We study God’s word, we read God’s word, and we preach God’s word "So people will know how beautiful, how sweet, how glorious, how important the Word of God is, so they will love the Word, keep the Word, so that through all this they may know the God of the Word."

Jimmy Finds Real Life - Part 2
Where sin abounded, grace did much more abound - Romans 5:20
A few things jumped out to me in reading this. First, was your dad's incessant use of Scripture, and how it was the Scriptures that brought Jimmy to repentance. The Word of God does the work that the Father has purposed for it. For faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of Christ.
Second, was his statement that God loves us with a love we cannot understand. That takes the love of God out of the realm of what we understand as love and puts it into the realm of the unfathomableness of the person of God; which is where it needs to be because His love is nothing like our love and as such cannot be fully comprehended. Even as believers it is still hard to fathom that kind of love.
Thirdly, his call to Jimmy, "Will you surrender all to Jesus?" If there is no surrender there is no faith, there is no salvation. Jesus makes that clear in the Gospels, but we have muddied and obscured that requirement in trying to make the Gospel palatable to modern sensibilities. As is stated in Hebrews 5:9...He became to all who obey Him the source of eternal salvation. I Peter 1:1b-2 who are chosen by God the Father, by the sanctifying work of the Spirit, to obey Jesus Christ and be sprinkled with His blood. Jesus, Himself, pointed to this in Luke 6:46 when He asked the question, "Why do you call me Lord, Lord, and do not do what I say?"
Your dad was not afraid to ask for the total commitment that Jesus said was necessary to follow Him. May we be as bold.
